A customer wants an old plaster/wood lath ceiling repaired, not covered with drywall.
The entire 20'X 20'ceiling has superficial cracks every 4-6 inches in a checker board pattern. There is a wood stove in the room and my guess is that the extreme heat (with no vapor barier)and moisture hitting the cold air in the attic caused this condition. The good news is that they will be removing the stove and there is no bulged/hanging plaster or major cracks. What options do I have to deal with the checkerboard cracks?
I just applied a heavy viscosity product called Dry-Lok to seal some basement walls. Is it a choice? What about some other kind of fiber-additive to a primer or skim coat?
Anyone have experience with reparing these types of cracks?
