I have a Kenmore series 80 gas dryer, that does everything but heat. Worked
fine and suddenly quit drying the clothes. I removed the drum and shorted the
dryer door switch closed, and can watch the glowwire turn red hot--but nothing
ever ignites. One website said that once it turns red, the glow wire should
then fade out and then there would be a click and then the wire would glow red
again in a minute.

In our case, there never is a click, but the glow wire does get red hot again--
and it does so in about 30-40 seconds--and will repeat this cycle--but I never
see a flame--buch less--a burning fire. (It's as if there is no gas to
ignite.) -But we do have a gas water heater and it is working, so I don't
believe we have a gas problem.

The thermal fuse is fine. The thermostat measures short--top to bottom only--
all other connections are open. The other two sensors, right next to one another==along the top of the vent--all tested short. Nor were there are any burnt contacts found on the timer--

(I could find no standard Sears (Kenmore) model numbrs answhere on the dryer,
but the timer does contain the following numbers: M460-G; 852-7996,
397.6567; 013-96354; 2065510. On the back of the control panel, the plate is
stamped with 697267)

So it appears, my problem is likely the coils--or could it, be the igniter? I'd like to know I'm order the absolute most likely part...

Thank you in advance for your help, and your website. Please respond to me at my business email at "howard@digi-tekusa.com". Thank you again.

Sincerely

Howard
