I am planning to install a hardwood floor in my kitchen.I have a crown due to one joist that is about 1/2" higher than the adjacent joists. I have a basement and can get to the joist although not easily due to duct work. The subfloor is 5/8' plywood. I have considered renting a floor sander to try to smooth out the crown. Another option is to shim on or two joists on either side of the crown to feather out the crown which is more work than I want to tackle. Any suggestions. Is there a floor leveler material that would work with hardwood flooring for this type slope?
