DON'T!! I REPEAT DON'T!!! We put a new good quality armstrong laminate floor in our kitchen in March. When I read the instructions, it said that if there is a washer in the room, caulk around the area around the washer. Well, much to our installers dismay, I insisted on doing this. He did. Our washer broke a week later and dumped its water all over the kitchen but no damage to the flooring. Sounds great, right? Last week, 4 months later, the water line to our brand new refrigerator broke and dumped lots and lots of water on the floor. Since I we didn't own the fridge when the floor was put down, I didn't insist on the caulk even thought I thought about it. It totally ruined out $2000 floor. It lifted at most of the seams about 2/3 across the kitchen and I have a big kitchen. It squished and pushed water up between all the panels. Now, if we had caulked around the walls behind and beside the fridge, maybe this wouldn't have happened but you can't caulk great around the dishwasher and everybody has a sink that will eventually leak, right? How do you keep the water from going under the flooring. So again, I repeat DON'T put laminate in your kitchen or bath.
