I don't own a house yet, (the papers are in the works)but I know I am wanting to replace the floor covering in the kitchen of the house I am intending to get. It currently has sheet vinyl. I know self-adhesive vinyl tile is inexpensive and easy to install, but I've heard it really isn't going to last for more than a couple years. I also don't like the idea of the seams between each tile. Is there a sealant I can use for this? Are tiles durable/easy to clean? Most of the house has paneling (even one wall in the kitchen!). Would it be a bad idea to paint it? If it's ok, what needs to be done to prepare the paneling?
