Hello, I have recently removed the popcorn ceilings in my daughters new (1983)house.
While it was lots of work, it was well worth the effort. I used a garden sprayer adn had to really soak the area and let it sit for about 20 minutes before scraping as the ceiling had been previously painted and the surface did not readily absorb the water.
Today, I started putting on joint compound with a trowel, this is also going well and leqaves just a little texture on the ceiling. I am sharing this information because we had a contractor tell us it would cost $4500 to remove the popcorn and re-texture the ceilings! OUCH, so if anyone can benefit from this information, fantastic.
