installing and painting hardi plank

I would like know the correct way to install 6" hardi plank. The recommended nailing pattern and the amount of over-lap per plank.

I also would like to know the recommeded painting process for primed hardi plank. Should it receive another coat of primer and the type of paint to use.

I am replacing 20 year old masonnite lap board on the high part of my house and would like to do it right so I can forget it for a long time.
