Ratio of TSP to water for cleaning fieldstone

I have an entire wall made of fieldstone built around a fireplace. During the past two years I have used it a great deal during the winter. This has left me with black fieldstones up to the top of the room. How do I clean (I understand that TSP is the best) them. What ratio of TSP to water? Do I make a paste or mix it with something else?
