paint stripping (again) Posted by ken steel on February 20th, 1998 10:01 PM
I'm sure this question has been answered more than once but how about one more time. Want to strip a large exterior door (3'x8'). The door has probably 15-20 coats of paint since the house is 140 years old and the door looks as if it never has been stripped, only repainted. Since I don't want to remove the door or spend the summer refinishing it, I am looking for the best product. Or would a good sanding and repainting be just as good? I saw a product on one of the home shows that was applied and then covered with plastic, I think overnight. The job was done by professionals but I wonder if anyone knows about this process and if it can be a DIY. If this works I have several dozen more doors to do not to mention woodwork.
