......you're looking for a snap ring......
Loosen the screws in the mount plate ...the snap ring is the last thing on the flange.....
WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.....
Use a screwdriver to spring the ring.....place the screwdriver tip near one end of the snap ring and gently pry against the flange.......grip the end of the snap ring and lower it past the edge of the flange......the thin ring forms a spiral shape......now work the ring around the flange and remove......everything should now be loose for removal......
