Installing Deadlocks

Posted by ArmbarAngel on October 18th, 2005 01:25 AM

Texas code says I have to install a single-sided (ie keyless) deadbolt on each exterior door of a rental unit. (These are different altogether from single and double cylinder deadbolts, which are keyed on the outside.)

I've seen two types; one that fits in a hole that goes all the way through the door and another that fits in a hole that only goes partially through the door. I prefer the look of the second type, as it's less obvious from the outside.

Would this kind of deadbolt be very hard to install myself?
