Master Bedroom heating?

Hey Bob, I have a master bedroom that is 14x15 with one register in the middle of the room. Over the last past 2 1/2 years, it has become very stuffy and hard to hold heated air in the winter and cool air in the heat of summer. The house was buildt in 97. We purchased it in Aug 2001. To help with the air circulation, I installed a new register hoping to improve the temperature levels. The master bedroom still won't hold heat long enough like the other 3 rooms. I've adjusted the registers to advance more heat in the room and installation still seems to be the problem. Should I punch a hold in the walls and see if their is insulation? I will waite for you expert advise. The bedroom is on the North-westside of the house.
