I recently purchased *new* 1997-98 Maytag Neptune MAH3000 front loader. New because it has never been run in 7-8 years. This machine was an appliance that came in a new home. The owners had their own washer/dryer from their previous residence and this sat in the garage for the past 7-8 years. It is pristine and since the person I purchased it from is someone I trust (Aunt and Uncle)for $250.00 I know this info to be truthful. I've only had it a week since my White Westinghouse deep sixed the previous week. I've thouroughly enjoyed this machine up to this point. Never onwned a Maytag but all my life (I'm 46), I've always heard nothing but good things about Maytag. Did a search on this machine and that's how I wound up here and boy o boy. Lawsuits, mold, PC problems, etc. not only on this model but on every model I've read about. I've also read similar complaints on the Whirlpools and Kenmores too. Are these problems an overall design flaw inherent to front loaders or can any product in America simply be this bad? I know they're are some happy Neptune owners (I know a few) So all these machines can't be bad? Can they?
