New hardwood floor with adhesive

Hi Pauline,
I see your problem occurred exactly 3 years ago, and here we find ourselves in the same spot. We had a friend install our very expensive hand-scraped walnut hardwood floor, and there is adhesive all over it. We have tried thinner, mineral spirits, adhesive remover, acetone, and nothing works. Some remove some of the glue, but not all of it, and some remove the finish as well. Did you ever find a solution? We are anticipating having to have the floors refinished, which we would like to avoid if at all possible.
