Help with Staining. Turn Dark into Light.

Can you advise the best solution to a BAD IDEA?

I built a vanity for the bathroom sink since I had this vision in my mind. I ended up picking out a stain (Red Chestnut) to put on the oak wood. After I had completed this, noticed how I did not like the door trim (light, natural oak color) and this Red Chestnut. So, what I would like to do is lighten the Red Chestnut stain that was put on the vanity to come closer to the light oak color. Not matching but something that would blend better.

Can you advise the best way to do this? My fear is having to put too much sanding into this and not be able to get all the tight corners and may alter the look of the vanity.

Please help!
Sincerely,
Carrie
