Remodel kitchen wall counter/bar

Posted by carisue76 on January 3rd, 2006 02:54 PM

Need ideas desperately. I've recently purchased a 1940's home, no dining room. One low wall with spindles separating the kitchen and the living room. My plan is to remove the spindles and build a bar in its place.. The bar needs to be at least 6 ft long by 20 to 24" wide. I would like the wood to be at least 1' thick. My dream is a butcher block top. My feeling is that might be way out of my budget. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please help me and I very new home owner...... Thanks for your suggestions.... Carrie
