I have 30yr. old kitchen cabinets in good condition. I want to install beautiful marble countertops, new sink etc., but need to modernize the look of the cabinetry. They are a medium wood stain and really don't have much varnish left on them. I have washed them with tsp. What next? My husband does not care for the look of painted woodwork. Is there a process to lighten them somewhat? Budget won't allow for replacement.
