removing scratches from furniture finish

Help!!! I recently bought a cocktail table at a very good price but now I'm trying to remove some fine scratches on the finish. The piece was used at the store for display purposes but has scratches, is there any tricks I can try. I've tried some Formby wax removal on it but have only managed to now dull the finish .
