Local Code is Exception, Not the Rule

The problem is that local code is the exception and not the rule.

National codes clearly ALLOW air admittance valves but as already mentioned by others and myself, their use "might" be restricted on the local level.

But the fact remains that air admittance valves are recognized and allowed to be used in nearly all US states, and the trend is for uniform national acceptance.

Since codes are 'minimums' for safety, it does not mean that the use of an air admittance valve is clearly the 'best' method one can employ in all situations, but it is the acceptable minimum.

Personally, I don't like them and use them only where mothing else will work.

But let us also not confuse the readers with false information that they are not code compliant, safe, nor prevented from being used...when clearly in most situations they are.
