Craftsman Garage Door Problem

Posted by npgnrg on January 9th, 2006 09:50 AM

Craftsman garage door opener-it is only about 3-4 years old, and it rarely if ever closes on the first or second or fourth-or fifteenth try. It will close, but as soon as it gets to the floor it opens back up. I close it again and again and again and it takes many tries to get it to stay closed. Something is causing it to go back up but I have no idea what, any ideas out there?

It does not matter if you use the remote, outside keypad, or the inside opener Sometimes it takes literally 10 minutes to get it to close. It does not seem to have anything to do with the sensors mounted on the inside rails, or the garage door rails themselves, or the garage door architecture. I am at a loss and it's driving me crazy.

The opener is not old, it's less than 4 yrs old and it just started this issue about 8 or 9 months ago but is getting worse every day.
The garage door itself is relatively new, it's less than 5 yrs old.

Has anyone had this issue or know how to fix it or at least have any ideas about what I can check beyond the obvious-sensors, track, rails?
