I am remodelling and I just took out a single switch that controls one outlet. I cut out the outlet and put individual caps on each wire and then my circuit breaker wouldn't turn back on. I had to replace the switch with a piece of wire before I could turn the breaker back on......

Why can't I just put caps on the ends and how can I remove this switch. In the new design the existing room is going to be on it's own circuit.
