I know there has been a lot of talk about leaky basements but I think my basement falls under the category of mystery basement. We recently bought an older home with a basement we thought was fairly dry. Well, during rain, the basement floods! Not too surprising. We checked all the usual suspects: the gutters and landscaping, but still the basement leaks-even when it's not raining now! Could we have a drain problem that isn't obvious? I don't know where to check next. All the contractors we have looking at the house want to replace this or that, but I just want to know what is wrong! We live on a hill and all of our surrounding neighbors have dry, finished basements. I would love any help I can get!
