There are TWO separate devices, the switch AND gfci in one unit. The line coming from the breaker is wired as such, hot(blk) goes to line of outlet (brass screw) and switch wire via a wire nut. The white wire goes to line (silver screw) and to light fixture via wire nut. The other switch wire (blk) goes to
light fixture. Don't forget to ground the outlet. According to Cooper the AC switch is INDEPENDANT (or separate) of gfci, the switch
should not control the power to the gfci. I too was confused with the wiring until I took the old one apart.
