"The Mythbusters" used Vodka to get rid of smokers breath, claimed it was more effective than mouthwash, they used it with some success for bad foot oder, etc. Seems like it could work on most non-porous surfaces. I wouldn't try to use it in your car for obvious reasons! Some myths really are based on reality. If you try it, let us all know if it works.
