Lived in a home for 17 years with a septic tank. Everything drained into it without filters, etc. Raised two children using cloth diapers, (lots of washing) Never had a problem with the septic system. But DID have the tank pumped every 2 to 3 years to prevent excessive sludge buildup. Come to think of it, the washing machine (GE) did have a lint filter on top of the agitator where the water was recirculated.
