I have a remote controlled ceiling fan installed which has been working fine for the past two years. Last night my wife turned on the light with the remote and one of the lights burned out - with a pop, later on I tried to turn off the light with the remote -- It wouldn't go out. I see the infra-red light flashing but nothing. The fan still works with the remote without a problem -- all speeds. Attempts to 'reset' it by killing the breaker. Also by pulling the chain and trying the remote with it off and on, etc. The light works with the chain fine.
My question is -- which seems unlikely since it works for the fan -- is it the remote. Or do I have to check the transmitter (or whatever it is called) inside the housing of the fan. Could the burnout of the light have sent a 'spike' to it and damaged it ?
