Rebuttal Posted by Mark on July 13th, 2000 10:53 AM In reply to Some Help ... by Jay J on July 12th, 2000 01:58 PM [Go to top of thread]
Jay J: Thanks for your response and links, I found them helpful. Anyway I was talking to the sub who hired the installer for the job. He showed up with a quarter and stated that if the qaurter won't fit into the gaps in the butt-ends of the floor, the install job is within industry standards. Anyway, I got out my tape measure and began to measure the gaps between the butt-ends of the flooring and they are all approximately 1/16th of an inch in width - some smaller some bigger. Some of the board butts meet don't square where the gaps occur. For instance the gap is negligble on one side of the butt-end seam and opens up to a large gap at the other side of the joint between the butt-ends. While the gaps in other butt-end seams are of uniform length. The sub never tried to use the quarter. The sub tells me that these gaps are within industry standards. I don't buy it. Again any help is appreciated - if I'm off-base fine, if not that is fine too. Thank you, Mark
