Interior trim finishing Posted by rbmckbvc@sbcglobal.net on June 30th, 2006 10:33 PM In reply to interior trim by Unregistered-bellyrubr on April 3rd, 2005 12:10 AM [Go to top of thread]
When using MDF materials i.e. door casing, crown mouldings and base, my material always seems to shrink at the miters after finish work and paint are complete. I've tried several methods to prevent this, however, the problem seems to be with the acclamation of the material. As soon as heat or humidity hit it, the splitting occurs. I have tried top nailing at the miters, gluing the joints, caulking the joints, or other methods such as Elmer's wood putty or even lightweight spackle. Is my problem with the acclamation, or is it with the product used to finish the miters. Please help!!! Tired of fixing miters!!! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
