I have my drill press set up as a drum sander most of the time. I bolted a 1 x 8" oak board to the table and drilled a 2-3/8" hole under the spindle. Then I put a 2x2" drum in the chuck and bring the table up to where the bottom of the drum is slightly below the top of the board. You can get 3 different grits of drums. I use this for all sorts of grinding including on ceramic tile. I have also figured out a set-up to use this as a jointer. This is really one of the most versatile pieces of equipment in my shop.
Boy do I feel bad though. My 6" grinder cost $25. I threw away the tool rests that came with it and made myown out of scrap. I don't use it much but it does the job when I need to sharpen something.
