that electrician did everything right its probably 6-3 SER inside the conduit not sheathed electrical cable. and the 50 amp gfci is required for the tub. which arent cheap... 80 bucks at lowes will get you an enclosure with a cheap 50 amp gfci. the solid copper ground is sufficient if its #6 solid.
