whitewash over panelling

A huge thank you to all for the great advice on how to whitewash. I'm so glad that I read through all of the posts because dp gives so much conflicting that I'd be terrified to start had I not read them all. I plan to mix WATER based paint (as was always recommended by most but dp) and quite simply WHITEWASH my wood panelling in my laundry room. Priming would ruin this effect completely! I think this idea of "white washing" is terrific. Mine is chair rail height and down so whitewashing it will make the painted wall on top pop and the whole small room brighter. THANKS to rocketmanallen, Amy, t.b. and others for the sound advice even if you don't have 10 years experience as a paid member of a paint trade.:o)
