Well water doesn't last long

I recently moved my mobile home to a lot of land owned by a married couple and their two young kids. The well is shared between both of the homes. Since the move the water has been running out, even with normal use, and they've had to cut the pump off for about 30 minutes to give the water time to build back up. Why is the water running out, and is there anything we can do?
