I am in the process of getting quotes to have my single pane wood windows replaced. I wanted the outside to be maintenance free so vinyl cladding over the wood was suggested. Has anyone any knowledge/advise about what to get. Also, the local "Home Depot" have started this procedure in my area. Anyone think this is wise? At least they are professionals.
I have lots of double hung colonial style windows so I would like grids to be between the glass if possible, with screens being an option also. I have a rather open floorplan (no doors) so would the cost of getting replacement windows be offset by energy savings (heat in winter, cool in summer)
