Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Range - 79382- Major Problem Posted by Becky Perr on September 21st, 2006 12:20 PM In reply to kenmore elite dual fuel range oven doesn't work by dawntann on October 2nd, 2005 01:52 PM [Go to top of thread]
I took delivery on the stove July 1, 2006. I had to have the top replaced ( shipped damaged) and the oven racks replaced 2 times, the procelain damaged, but I loved the stove until the timer on the control panel stopped working - which was about 1.5 months after I took delivery.
Sears sent someone to look at it, he ascertained that no quick fix was available, I needed a new circuit board. He ordered a new part, the part came in, someone came again, installed the new board - NOTHING WORKED AT ALL except the gas cooktop. He put the old circuit board back in and ordered a new part circuit board. The new board came damaged. Sent it back, received another new part. Couldn't get another appointment until Sept. 20. Before then, the entire panel froze and was useless. NO OVEN, BROILER, ETC., just, mercifully, the gas cooktop.
Called Sears to get a new stove. They will replace it free with a new model - the next year's model is coming out, but I need to wait without an oven or broiler until mid October.
IF I want another brand, they want me to pay the difference in price. Don't know what to do because I'm don't want to pay more than I did (got the Elite on sale), but will wait and see how that works.
I would like some feedback from other 2005 Elite owners, please. Thanks! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
