I came here looking for the same answer. I discovered that on my knobs, there is a rectangular recess about the size of the end of a large flat-head screwdriver on the shaft of the interior door handle. If you press a screwdriver into this recess and pull the handle, it will come off. Then, pry off the plate covering the screws. Remove the screws and both sides will slip out.
