We have a thirty year old home in California. I noticed termite damage in the face board below the threshold of our front door. I have had the termites treated and began looking at what needed to be done to repair the damage. The face board appears to be a 2X5 that extends beyond the width of the entry way. I believe that it will be difficult to remove or cut out and was considering using a filler to repair the wood. The damage covers a length of about 2.5 feet. The damage along the bottom 1 inch extends all the way through the base board to flashing. The other damage is near the out side surface and extends to about an inch below the top of face board.
My question:
Is this a reasonable plan and if it is what type of filler should I use?
