My husband and I are having a difficult time with our Hurd Windows, and we recently came across your story on Complaints.com. We are in a similar situation in that our Hurd TC88 Heat Mirror have caused us a nightmare of problems, and Hurd is being far from accommodating.

Our windows were built and installed in our new construction home in Sept. 1999 and most likely from the same lot as your shipment. We actually moved into the home in 2001. In 2003 one of the windows became dirty and hazy between the glass. It was replaced at a $200.00 cost to us. In 2005, we counted a total of 27 windows defective with the same problem. Hurd no longer manufactures this particular tint of windows, in other words, providing an exact replacement is impossible. If one pane of the entire window is fogged up, Hurd said they would replace the entire window (both sides and the transom above)so that everything matches, including the sash. The labor cost, which is solely our responsibility, would be $4400.00.
We find it unacceptable that 27 windows (44 panes)should need replacement after such a short time. Holding the consumer responsible for a $4400.00 labor cost when the windows were obviously defective from the start is simply wrong! As of the writing of this message, our problem is still unresolved.

We are very interested in knowing the details about how your situation was handled (who did you talk to, was the issue resolved, etc). If you could respond, we would be so appreciative. We thank you in advance and look forward to your response: jeris@wowway.com
