I am assuming that the engine you are using is small. It is possible to retrofit it to operate on a scooter.
Usually the motor will rotate a rubber wheel which will rotate the back tire. I looked around for a website that would explain how to retrofit an engine for this purpose however was unable to find one. Maybe somebody does and will post it.
Popular Mechanics might have a back issue that descibes this retrofit.
