I have a very good friend that has a multimillion dollar home which I did enterior painting and staining on when it was first built 5 yrs ago. The exterior doors are solid wood, with a coat of minwax stain and two coats of helmsman exterior polyurethane. They are exposed to all the extreme elements of nature that come with being on a mountiantop in southern West Virginia.
The problem is: the finish is cracking in places and it appears that the polyurethane dosnt bond well enough to the wood to prevent air pockets in areas.
What do you recomend as a long lasting, clear, weatherproofing finish that can withstand the extreme torture of natures wrath?
