MinWax Helmsman is an exterior grade spar polyurethane and it is as good or better than most. It does need refinishing every few years.

You can try a marine supply house and get a better grade spar finish, I don't know specific brands.

I have Minwax Helmsman on my oak entrance doors and so far it has held up just fine (fingers crossed)
