I noticed that on some of your older home projects, 1x3 strapping is used under ceiling joists before application of drywall or blue board. What is the purpose? to flatten out the irregularities in the joists? Change direction of the drywall? I am getting ready to put either drywall or blue board under some 24" O.C. scissors trusses. It is a large ceiling area, and I want it to look very flat, and for it to stay that way for years.
