This product offers the self-temperature-limiting feature that some pipe-freeze-preventing tapes do. Electric heat, however, has the handicap of costing two to three times for the same output as gas or oil heat. Since homes are so well insulated today, the cost of electric heat is reasonable, but many prefer less expensive heating fuels.
