My pump runs frequently (every two to three minutes) whenever we have a heavy rain so constant operation is critical. If the power goes out during a thunderstorm (which is not unlikely), I will have a flooded basement. I know this happened to the previous owner of my home at least once. My sump pit is not large enough to put in a second, battery backup pump and I do not wish to replace the existing pump as it is relatively new. Is there no such thing as a stand alone battery backup for pumps like there is for computers? Are there any other alternatives besides a new pump?
