Lights have current path to ground....

* One or more of your light fixtures have a path(short) to earth ground. Perhaps the fixture is wet.
* Remove the wires woing to the fixtures.
* Using an ohmmeter, check resistance from the black wire then the white wire to copper(earth) ground. There must not be any reading! It must be infinite resistance. If there is a path, then the GFCI will trip.
* The GFCI compares current going out on the black wire to the current comming back on the white wire. If they don't compare, the GFCI opens the circuit.
* If there is a partial Short to earth ground, some of the current will return through the ground wire instead of the white wire bypassing the GFCI. The GFCI doesn't like this!
