Install Outdoor Light Sensor to Polyethylene Lampost

I have a white polyethylene lampost with a 2 candelabra light lantern. I would like to install a light sensor to this. The issue is I will need to drill a hole into the lampost to install the small wire sensor. Is this a tough project or should I find a light sensored lantern and replace the one I have? I like the lantern that is currently in place and it will cost much less to install the sensor. Any suggestions, I would appreciate it as I am a total novice in this and many other fix-it-yourself projects. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
