Insulate

Posted by JSMLFD on February 3rd, 2007 03:10 PM

I have just closed on a home that was built in apx. 1923. The home is located in the NY Metro area. I have an enclosed finished front porch with Solid oak floors. Below the porch is a crawl space that is the same length and width of the room above with a tiny entrance hatch (apx. 2X3) located on the side. The ground inside the space is dirt. On very cold days & nights the room is quite drafty and the floor is noticeably colder the then rest of the house. I feel I am loosing lots of energy due to this crawl space. My question is what I need to do to insulate this area from below. Another concern is moisture and breeding mold. Please help. Thank you.
