You need to stop and go through this STEP BY STEP.

You are getting a lot of misleading advice.

The white is NOT ALWAYS NEUTRAL. It is sometimes the HOT SWITCH LEG. Code requires it to be remarked a different color, often with tape or marker. But it is often not done.

Now we need to verify number of items.

PLEASE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS AND GIVE FULL DETIALS. I can not see the situation and my advice can only be as good as the information you give me.

1. Ceiling Light - you first said DINING ROOM. Now you say KITCHEN. Are you talking about TWO DIFFERENT LIGHTS NOW or they same?

2. You are not having any problem with lights? Verify it check the light over the sink, under cabnet lights, kitchen fan, nearby hallway, living room, and outdoor (back door) lights.

3. The switch is a simple ON/OFF (and that is what is on the handle) and not part of a 3 or 4 way switch. And it is not dimmer and it is not a FAN Controller (separately controls lights and fan).

4. At the ceiling box you have ONE conduit with red and white. Another conduit with blue, red, and white.

Is that correct?
And there NO other conduits or wires (other than green or bare)?

5. At the switch box there is one conduit with blue, red, and white.

Is this correct?

There are not other wires or conduits?

6. And the Switch only has two terminals (except it might have a 3rd green color terminal) and that it is connected to blue and red.

Is that correct?
