fiberglass roof/deck

We had done 5 years ago an addition that included over our family room a flat room that would eventually in the second phase we were to make into a deck. Well we are at the second phase and we need some information on installing the posts to the deck and ensuring that the screws/plates are not going to leak into our lower addition.
