Styrofoam insulation above roof sheathing?

Posted by scullythecat on March 20th, 2007 03:14 PM

Want to reduce the amount of heat entering a small uninsulated cottage but the interior cathedral ceiling is finished in cedar. With no attic space I thought that while we are re-doing the roof we could strap it and lay Blue Styrofoam on the sheathing before putting the metal roofing on. I was told that there may be an issue with the metal sweating? Would this work or is there a better way? Can't leave ventilation space between metal and Styro as there will be a metal capping on the fascia and no vented soffit to help. Any suggestions?
