Your questions is not clear.

But if you have an existing receptacle then you must install a matching cordset on the dryer.

If you don't have an existing dryer receptacle then the new circuit has to be 4 wire and use a 4 terminal receptacle.

If you change from a 3 wire to 4 wire cordset then there is a grounding strape or jumper that needs to be removed.

If going from 4 wire to 3 wire then you will need to add strap or jumper.
